Ezra Stiles College Beech. These two American Beech trees (Fagus grandifoli) grew in front of the entrance to the Ezra Stiles College dining hall. The 62 year old trees were part of the original landscaping for the College courtyard when it opened in 1958 (see small trees in the 1958 photo, left). The trees were removed as part of the Stiles College renovation in 2010 (see mature tree in 2010 photo, right). The wood is a light tan with a subtle grain.
