Woolsey Hall Elm

Woolsey Hall Elm

These bowls and pens were handcrafted from an American Elm (Ulmus americana) that grew at the corner of Grove and Prospect streets.  The 40 year old tree grew in front of Sheffield Sterline Strathcona Hall, across the street from Silliman College and across the intersection from Woolsey Hall and Commons.  The 40 year old Elm tree, which is the namesake of Elm City, died in 2011 and the trunk was removed by the city in July 2012.
