Product Description

This beautiful bowl was handcrafted from a 35 year old elm tree (Ulmus rubra) that grew on the Cross Campus Quad of Yale University.  It was one of only three Cross Campus trees that were elms.  It grew in front of the entrance to Harkness Hall, across the quad from Calhoun College and within sight of the Sterling Memorial Library.  The elm tree, which is the namesake of Elm City, showed early stages of disease and was removed in July 2014.  The bowl is 12 1/2" diameter and 5" in height.  It is bowl #53 among the bowls that will be turned from this tree.
