Product Description

This  beautiful natural edge bowl with a full bark edge was handturned from a 35 year old Norway maple tree that grew on York Street between Jonathon Edwards College and Branford College and across the street from the University Theater and the Rose Alumni House.  The tree died and was cut down by the city of New Haven.  There is a remarkable contrast between the sapwood and the heartwood and bark of this bowl. There is a hole in the wall of the bowl from a large nail that was used to embedded and engulfed within the wood of this street tree.  The bowl measures 5 1/2" in diameter and 2 3/4" in height.  It is bowl #39 of the 41 bowls that will be made from this tree.
