Product Description

This bowl was handturned from a 35 year old Norway maple tree that grew on York Street between Jonathon Edwards College and Branford College and across the street from the University Theater and the Rose Alumni House.  The tree died and was cut down by the city of New Haven.  There is huge  variation in the color in this wood, from the creme typical of maple to purple. This bowl has a hole in the side where a nail was once lodged, reflecting its city origins. The bowl measures 7 1/2" in diameter and 2 1/2" in height.  It is bowl #39 of the 41 bowls we expect to make from this tree.
