Ezra Stiles Beech

These two American Beech trees (Fagus grandifoli) grew in front of the entrance to the Ezra Stiles College dining hall. The 62 year old trees were part of the original landscaping for the College courtyard when it opened in 1958. The trees were removed  as part of the Stiles College renovation in 2010. The wood is a light tan with a subtle grain and the occasional black spalting running through the wood.
